About and method
What this site is and how its rulings are worked out.
Muslim Women Fiqh is a free educational website that helps Muslim women apply the Hanafi rulings of haiz, istihaza, nifas, ma'zur, iddah and puberty to their own dates. It exists because these questions are asked every month in every Muslim household, and the answers depend on counting days carefully, which is easy to get wrong.
How the rulings are worked out
The calculators and guides follow mainstream positions of the Hanafi school, as found in the standard references used in South Asian and other Hanafi seminaries, among them al-Hidaya, Radd al-Muhtar (Ibn Abidin), al-Fatawa al-Hindiyya and Bahishti Zewar. Where Hanafi scholars differ on a point that changes the result, the page says so and names the position the calculator uses.
Each calculator's logic is written as a set of rules and checked against worked examples before it is published. The rules each tool applies are listed on its page under "How this calculator decides".
Your privacy
The calculators run entirely in your browser. The days and dates you enter are not sent to us or stored. We use Google Analytics to count visits, as described in the privacy policy.
